2024- 2025 Oliver Ames Swim and Dive Captains
Angela Chiereghio
Angie has been a fish in the pool since she was little. She has always loved to swim. Angie started her swim team journey with the Old Colony YMCA team in the 5th grade, which lead her to the Oliver Ames Swim and Dive team. She instantly fell in love with the team and with the sport itself. Some of her favorite events consisted of the 200 yard Individual Medley and the 500 yard freestyle. Angie has been a certified lifeguard for 3 years now and has been teaching swim lessons for just as long. As a captain, Angie hopes to encourage all of her teammates to push themselves in order to grow as a swimmer, but more importantly, as people. She is excited for her final season on this team in which she hopes to create a supportive and positive relationship with all her teammates.
Puqi Luo
From a young age, Puqi has loved the water. As a child he learned how to swim in China, and now is a frequenter of the YMCA. He has also occasionally gone kayaking and sailing on nearby lakes during the Summer. In high school, he joined the swim team his Junior year after hearing about it from his friends, and has since then had a great time swimming in freestyle and breaststroke events. Puqi is determined to continue pursuing excellence in his swimming efforts and sharing his love of it with others.
Addison McDonagh
Addison has been competitively swimming on club teams since she was 5 years old. Addison joined the Oliver Ames Swim and Dive team her freshman year. Her favorite events are the 50 and 100 freestyle. She loves relays with her teammates and enjoys cheering them on as they swim together. As a captain, Addison hopes to welcome new swimmers to this positive and supportive environment. She wants to provide support and feedback to her teammates to allow them to grow as swimmers. Addison wants her enthusiasm for swim to inspire others. Addison is also a certified lifeguard and swim instructor. She also helps teach swim lessons to Special Olympic athletes.
Mackenzie Merrill
Mackenzie has always loved to swim. From playing mermaids in the ocean to taking swim lessons at the Y, her love for the water started at a young age. Her freshman year she was eager to join a swim team. From there she was thrown into the 100 yard butterfly and ended up loving it. She also swims the 4x100 freestyle relay and 200 freestyle. Mackenzie wants to spread her love for the sport and help others have a good time just like she has. Mackenzie is also a certified lifeguard and has taught swim lessons for the past three years.
